At the age of 16, Marcus L. Mitchell began his journey into the field of construction as a cement laborer under the guidance and tutelage of his stepfather. In 1995, Marcus convinced his Uncle to add concrete contracts to the family business, as well as general contracting services. Their first project awarded to them was a $430K Underpin Contract for the Fulton Industrial Warehouse. The project scope of work included demolition, concrete, loading dock, asphalt paving and landscaping. This project jump started the company’s expansion into design-build services for religious institutions. Marcus eventually bought the family business and today, under his leadership and management, The M. Mitchell Group has become a leader in the construction industry throughout the Southeast.
